Education
makes the education process

provides
interactive communication with TTY devices. That is often the only way
that students or parents with hearing or speech disabilities can talk with
faculty or administration regarding the students educational situation or
progress.

alternative
communications options

business
communications skills
English

Telecommunications is ubiquitous to the educational process. Students and
parents who are denied ready access to
information and services offered as part of the educational process are
denied a learning opportunity and are
being denied their equal rights under many different laws.

Traditional TTY
Problems
Traditional
TTYs used in schools are often part
of the
barrier to effective educational communications
and equal
access. Often,
only a few
of the traditional TTYs are installed because they are expensive and require
dedicated phone
lines.
Calls are not easily transferred and often the parent or student cannot talk
with educators or administrators. According to the FCC, school systems that
are using voice menu and IVR telephone systems have created barriers* to TTY
access even through TTY relay services.
solves those problems.

Easily Installed
The telephone service
provides a seamless link
between the public switched telephone network and the Internet
infrastructures that are installed in virtually every school. TTY telephone
calls that originate on the telephone system are routed through the telephone
switching center onto the school systems LAN or WAN. TTY calls are
received and/or originated on the appropriate PCs. No additional hardware or
networks are required. Installation is straightforward and involves
five basic steps
determining the number of simultaneous access lines
determining the number of users
loading
user software
determining call flow and phone number routing
providing
basic training to users.
